Agriculture as we know it

Reading media reports and Facebook posts about tree planting and alternatives to meat on a daily basis.
Vegan and save the earth types gathering huge momentum as every week goes on.
Are we facing what can only be described as a farming endangerment?
Could we as a switched on farming group on here set up something to counteract the very anti farming messages that are circulating out there??
We already have the Grass roots group so could we have a group similar??
Green farming as the title or something??

Before it’s too late.

anything is possible with enough time or money or ideally both !

the groups pushing against agriculture have LOTS of both, most farmers have neither !

it's just the 'way of the world'......not so many years i'd go combining and count 5-6 other combines going in distance.....last few years i've barely seen one.....the local big outfit has a 12m claas /chaser/lorry....i reckon it replaced 7 combines at least...i never saw them going at all this season

after ww2 there were 43 farmers/smallholders in our village.....we're doing well there's still 5.....but another 20 yrs we'll be all gone....perhaps one left

It's deeper than that. The decision was made a long time ago that farmers will carry the can for the environmental damage being caused in the food chain. It is the job of the top table at the NFU, whoever they may be, to spread that message.
They need to come clean then , and watch the subs disappear

CIEL 2020 states that all livestock in the UK emit 6% of total GHG emissions, with crops emitting 4%.

The standard message from NFU and AHDB. UK ag produces 10% of UK GHG emissions. What a load of bollox.
With friends like that....

so NFU have passed the carbon footprint of fertiliser plants on to us

and they are on our side !

ffs wake up guys if you are still a member and cancel NOW

Has it been forgotten already that Borris gave CF a handout not because they needed fertiliser but because they needed CO2. It seems the CO2 isn’t a waste byproduct but something very much needed.

It’s not helped by others blowing their regen trumpets and saying what a terrible job everyone that isn’t regen is doing to the environment, who needs enemies when you have ‘friends’ like that!

Don't worry about public opinion

Farmers are very (hyper) sensitive to any perceived criticism-such as the "reports" of a decline in meat consumption that totally contradicts actual sales figures.

Just as the average person in the street is unaware of what Red Tractor is or means, I expect they are blissfully unaware of 90% of the flack mentioned in the OP and don't care anyway. They're far more bothered about things like Strictly, at what their "mates" say about them on Facebook and the latest Bond film.

Every General Election sees some Politician made to look stupid because they don't know how much a loaf of bread or a pint of milk costs-well I doubt if three quarters of the public know (or care much) anyway.
