Would you support a cereals exit vote if ahdb do not “fix” the marketplace distortion caused by RT?

AHDB financially support Red Tractor every year to the tune of £250,000.

I detest RT ....... BUT I wouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water and throw away AHDB Cereals if AHDB cannot distance themselves completely from RT. I agree that there should be NO funding of levy payers money from AHDB to RT.
If the industry lost AHDB cereals because of RT it would be a tragedy.

Maybe, in the first instance, considering the impact TFF and social media had on the RT consultation, there should be a concerted effort from all levy payers to AHDB to withdraw their funding of RT.

I too am happy with what AHDB do for cereals, but I do actively participate with the services they provide. I read their emails, study their trial results attend local events etc.
I find they are always looking for feedback on better ways to spend our levy.

Most of us would like an alternative to rt assurance if AHDB provided it their future would be secure.

However I think we all need to "participate" and contact AHDB to make this happen after all the NFU are not going to be lobbying for this.

AHDB do a lot that i think is great value to us as cereal growers and i would not want to loose that

BUT if they can’t support cereals growers on a critical issue it seem the VAST majority agree needs significant change then i would find it hard to support them in return

Folks are paying even if not RT members.

And the rub is the RT/AIC set-up makes it harder for UK farmers to access our markets than it does for imported competitor combinables.

Farmers, hauliers and merchants pay for it all. We've been stitched up.

Ask a non-assured haulier or merchant how much grain they shifted last year.

I can only think of one reason why there would be different assurance requirements for imported vs UK grain. Answer: so we have to be members of an assurance racket.

Am I right in thinking AHDB are partial owners of RT? Wonder if any of the other owners pay into the marketing budget.
The short answer is that of the 18 Directors of RT, just AHDB makes a financial contribution. This was also clear when Jim Mosely spoke at the 'consultation' event we attended when, in answer to a question on funding he said that 50% is from farmers, 45% is from royalties and 5% is from AHDB. For the record, AHDB's funding is £249,000.00 per annum at present. We understand that this is proportioned across the levy sectors and that Beef & Lamb's contribution is £60K. We are unnsure what Pig's contribution is.
In the main, we believe, the NFU pull the strings of RT and yet offer no direct funding. Suppose their argument would be that their members who are in RT are providing the NFU funding into RT!
What we'd like to know is what AHDB's £249,000.00 is spent on. Is it used for rent on RT's offices and some of their staff, or can it be attributed to marketing activity for the levy that is funding that activity.
