Now all those that have been vocal about how AHDB need to change start with the excuses.
Haven't got the time,
I can earn more doing other things
Blah blah blah.

Step up and make a difference!
Showaddywaddy are shite, but I don't feel the need to join the group to try and change their music.

i get a lot of people thanking me for saying things / asking awkward questions they think but are often not confident enough to say themselves

That rarely endears to the establishment however who generally love the status quo of “as little change as possible please ”. “don’t upset xxx, hes a jolly nice chap don’t you know”

i’m ALL about change and no industry needs it more than UK agriculture IMO

That’s excellent news.
I think/hope that you might be pleasantly surprised.
I know at least two of the pigs board members well and they definitely aren’t establishment shoe ins that toe the line and have never been known to not say exactly what they think.
I hope that might be the same for Cereals and Oilseeds- but maybe not!

I have a feeling that I know one of the pig people, at least he mentioned he was doing something for AHDB pork a while back.....

WALOB. I don't have to be football manager material to have the right to criticise my teams manager. I don't have to be author material to have the right to criticise a book. Paying my hard earned money gives me a mandate to criticise where necessary.
WTF are you on about ?

You have said there that I have the right to criticise, then in your next sentence said that to criticise and not apply is a cop out. Make your mind up

It was the excuses of not enough renumeration or time.

If your passionate about something do it.

As the old adages go
If you want something done do it yourself
Or
If you want a job done ask a busy person.

You don't want the gobsh!tes on a committee. You want the calm, reasoned people on a committee.

The trick - the only thing that matters - is for those calm, reasoned people to listen to the gobsh!tes, and to translate what they are saying into committee speak and to get it passed into policy.

That is where this industry is getting it wrong. Those on committees seeing people with opinions as being trouble. They aren't the trouble, the trouble is the 90% who just pay their subs for the deals and make no input to the future of the industry.

The people i know who serve on these positions make time to do it
They usually run a farm at the same time ----they just get on with it

And for anyone that think it sounds like easy money it's not!
Every paid day will have at least a solid day's researching beforehand and many evenings throughout the year background reading in preparation

You do realise, don't you, that you are making my point for me. Committee member willy waving.

The only decent committee members are the same as the only decent MP's. Those who recognise that they are there not to get their views across, but to get the views of their constituents across.
