AHDB POLL

Should the AHDB continue to partially fund Red Tractor unless we see a change of direction?

I've a feeling the money paid to RT is ring fenced for marketing?

I think AHDB could use that cash in a way which would better help levy payers.

I'd suggest getting AIC to create a level playing field. If AIC/RT won't budge, I'd like to see AHDB set up farmer run alternatives to both RT and AIC.

Farmers purchase feed from mills, so why shouldn't we insist on a UFAS type scheme which WE approve of. The current UFAS and AIC scheme rules put extra costs on arable farmers, and that ultimately means extra cost to purchasers of the feed. It's a cost that can be stripped out of our industry, with no detriment.

I don’t think AHDB funding red tractor is making uk farmers more competitive.

Absolutely. RT/AIC are making it impossible for some UK farmers to access markets, yet making it easy for non-UK farmers to access our markets.

AHDB shouldn't support that any longer, but should work to create a solution. That solution could be through discussion with RT and AIC, but if that doesnt bare fruit then an alternative must be sought.

No. RT are a private company.

They can raise their own money in the marketplace for the pleasure of having their board members call their funders backstabbers.

I'm minded to keep voting for the ahdb levy for cereals but then again circa .50p ton adds up to an awful lot of money for them. Can they spend it more widely?
Of course they can, simply give some of it away to your cohorts such as RT .Spread the lovely farmers money around.
