has anyone ever retro fitted air brakes to a older tractor?
tractors in question would most likely be a 6000 series deere and a 50 series
If so how did you go about doing it?

Please don't bother being the person to say just go buy one with air brakes not really a option.

We had them retrofitted to a 6600, 6620 and a 6125M. Deere do a field install kit. The older ones were easy I think but the dealers had to take the cab off the 125M.
Another option would be to contact Erentek or Tractair, although they would probably use electric drive compressors rather than belt if that makes a difference.

thanks just what i was wanting o hear, dread to think what price a deere kit might be:greedy::greedy::greedy: If they make a kit for a 6600 though surely would get one for a 6506!

I think Mike (Erentek) recommends a hydraulic drive compressor. Good helpful company.

Just fitted two granite kits to jd 6920’s, took about a day and was pretty straight forward. Everything came in the kit and didn’t involve any cutting, grinding or welding.

Couple of instal picks?

very useful thanks!
dare i ask a rough price?
They where a little dearer than the ones quoted above, but the two kits together came in at £4k (2k each) including vat and delivery. I wasn’t paying for them and needed them quick so didn’t really shop round to much.
However we did price from jd and got told they could no longer supply genuine kits for 20 series and the vap kit was dearer than the granite if I remember right.
Cheshire farm machinery supplied them.
