I love AC, never had any issue wth it affecting me no matter what car, tractor, machine, hotel room i have been in.

Would not consider a new vehicle without it.

Like others have said, keep cab clean, change filters, keep windows and doors shut all the time, summer or winter. I also always keep air con on, no matter what the weather, keeps it working and i think it keeps it fresh.

A clean cab is key to a clean air con system

FFS - you need to drink water
during summer in an air con cab here I'd probably drink 4l a day, maybe 2l of black tea & 2 l of water.
you wouldn't even think of getting in a tractor cab for a days work without a 4l Willow water bottle at your feet
stay hydrated & if its that hot it is probably sunny - so wear sunglasses !!!
eye strain from glare causes headaches as well
the absolutely worst thing you can do with air con is to run with windows or doors open - you end up getting dust & sh!t through all the internal filters & condenser which severely affects operation & requires cleaning. In the case of the condenser, it is generally in an awkward spot under the cab / in the roof etc
maintenance - cleaning cab filters, condenser & evaporator is just as important as cleaning engine air filter & radiators . . .
oh yes, you also need to run it regularly ( not just a week in peak summer ) to keep the seals moist & lubricated & prevent them drying out & losing all the R12 . . .

My air con failed in Feb this year - this was the air temp coming out of the vents . . .

Even with the AC operating properly at about 8 C at the vent, the cab temp was still closer to 30 C

even in winter ( yes, it does get cold here. -4 C last night. Have had -7 at times ) I find I need to run the AC at a low setting. Sitting in a glass box on top of 12 ton of hot metal, with the sun coming through the glass straight at you, is a masochists idea of a sauna . . .
still need cool air around the face . . .
