Sorry if this is in the wrong section, can a farmer put an air rifle through there books? It would be in lew of payment for help/work but if it helps him by tax deductible it’s win win

I claimed the vat back and put it through the farm accounts. It's for killing vermin in the farm buildings. I'd be happy to argue that one all day long!

For your own use, I'd say yes without a seond thought. To buy for use as an item to barter with, I'd say not. Will you get caught if you do, I suspect the odds are slim to none.

you could claim vat and put it through accounts if it remains a asset of the business and its purpose is for vermin control

buying it to gift someone else however would require it declared as a benefit in kind i would guess ? meaning that person receiving it paid some income tax on it ?

Did the same for a rifle scope but is listed as an asset of the Ltd Co, will obviously depreciate along with the rest of the kit. Acc didnt question it
