Why do you bother with a green sheet if you cover it in tyres ?

We just put a row of 2 on the edges and the joins saves a lot time and less tyres

We tried that, but still not as good as a proper covering, especially when we get to maize.

We went from 3 black sheets and touching tyres to 3 sheets, green heavy sheets and sand bags/tyres on edges/joins and had horrendous waste. Think they work better on a domed clamp rather than a flat/ramped clamp like in the picture but still not sold on them.

You can get cling film and black sheet in one prepackaged roll now I believe. Whether it's any better or not I don't know.

I used this orangey stuff and black on top was bloody dear compared to normal black but seems to do a good job, have used it on 3 years worth of silage now as always roll sheets back and save anything tennis court size or bigger.

Let time and tires but you won’t get as good of a seal or as good silage.

Is it worth suffering this horrible winter to eventually get this? I think so. This is the view from the highest point on the farm, beats working in an office!
