5.24% BF and 4.2% Protein last month, down to 4.2% and 3.7% now with a few milkier fresh cows, bought from a farm that wasn't pure grass. Shows the effects of breeding for a system quite well.

At times this week what with trying out an apprentice for sept and my son being home from college there were potentially 5 people available to help with calving.
So can some body please explain why we have 4 cows calve all week and this weekend we have had 6 when there’s only 1.5 people on. The same happened 2 weekends ago when I was on. Last week when 2.5 were on 1 bloody calf.
Thank god there’s only 9:left.

Dont worry nothing here for a week then one bank holiday friday and one today. Only one left.

But why do the bulls get very few in calf for the last fortnight but always get one in calf on the last day.

It's nearly always the way. I have four people on one weekend and only two on the other and right through calving it has been manic on the weekend with just two of us and very quiet on the other.

However, today is my first calf free day which is very well timed.

You truly must be contented if that's your biggest gripe [emoji23]

Any other day I'll stick to calling it a residual f*#k up...

Finally settled. Gave me an education yesterday, I thought finished bull beef was hard to work with but no it turns out 8month old dairy heifers win hands down. Between not getting them on a trailer to them breaking through electric and 2 barb fences before stopping was definitely a learning curve.
Mine will go out this next week, into a freshly sheep fenced field, grazed end Feb by cows. Hoping for no drama!
