What’s the theory’s

World and his wife seem to have one but it’s interesting that if we use clothes both bactos and cells go down. Why? Maybe:

1) brush is causing stress to the cows increasing cells. However we had brushes on robots and cells around 150
2) brush is loosening bacteria and the cupper on is too close. So brush auto loaded with acid and mat put out down the line to have good separation between brusher and cupper
3) mastitis is not being detected using brush but no witness lumps on filters
4) rotary too fast to brush properly. Possible but no faster than clothes. Perhaps wipers aren’t reaching all teats with brush?
5) brush heavy in use. Do wipers fatigue easily so skimp? Think they job swop at halfway point.

All ideas considered ..

Just start slapping milkers on with no prep and add things back one at a time.

Tried that and got bactos down to around 60 but suppliers of the brush insist we keep trying and have been out swabbing.
Going to blitz the beds as they swabbed high under the sawdust. Have noted bit of milk leakage so starting at cow end and working forward. Have QMMS on board too to go through plant. Sort it one way or another

If I’ve ever had a high bacto, pre spraying with teat dip halved the bacto, cows housed 365 for 12 years now, never missed top band for bacto and cells (has to be under 30 for bacto and 200cells),no milk recording just attention to detail, dry wipe, strip, attach, milk then tear spray.

So you just dry wipe with clothes or paper towels?
