Everything in bags

Rumen buffer 100g
C16 300g
Minerals 100g
Limestone flour 100g

Feed costbis high per ton because of the high maize diet we have just over 3kg soya in.

The milk is up in the 2nd vessel, that means were at 4 normally

Why so many heifers? Expansion or mega replacement rate?
Bit of both, for past 12 months for replacements I’ve only bought heifers, and expanded to near capacity, mastitis rate down, fertility up, culling down,
Another lesson learned, heifers heifers heifers heifers. No matter how cheap a cow is it’s just not cheap enough they don’t seem to move well.

Be about 25/26ppl.
Problem is I’ve probably a lot more to come out of my margin?
Everyone works on bought in feed but it means nothing to me mines is 2.7ppl just now total feed is better I think.
2.7ppl just shows how good your crop side is. Only crop here is silage, straw bought in and blend and parlour cake. All’s been good 7.5ppl is total feed at 0.35kg/l. I’m totally exposed tho looks like soya’s back up to near £400 so only chance to keep decent figures the now will be turnout but next winter god knows. Would ideally like a whole crop wheat.

Even more confused now. Your not paid for litres are you ?

No but more litres at the same solids equals a bigger milk cheque.

That's the trick though ... keeping solids AND litres comparatively high. Usually don't get one with the other but it can be done as demonstrated when we were over in Denmark. Yes slightly different climate re forage growth/harvest but genetics wise our herd & theirs are identical

our cows are out, 4-6kg cake/day/head 25 litres, and rising, about 2ppl.
we have a very proactive vet, and his breeding policy, is as follows.
hfrs, serve to sight, for 7 days, then jab oe, the unserved and serve to sight.
cows, a massive pnc check, pre breeding. a check for problem cows 3 weeks after start, and couple pd sessions after.
how does that compare with others ? Bit different to fortnightly routines !
april milk will be approx 27.5ppl, with seasonality, barbers holdin may price at 27ppl

We check anything that had issues at calving A milk fever or a retained cleansing. For example. Before we start serving. So around 10 cows maybe. Then anything not served after day 24 of service will be seen again. Anything regarded as milking too hard or too thin will come through the parlour twice a day but only milked once.
we are blood testing a few tomorrow to check mineral status after last yrs car crash.
Current production 27.5 litres @ 4.91 3.56. Or more relevantly 2.33 kgs solids.
