that's one of the reasons self feed went out of fashion, silage 10ft high, not 5ft, we all needed more silage pits.Do you not find alot of silage is wasted doing this? Or never had a cow injured by falling silage?
No and no, I’ve just started self feed again. Never had a problem with falling silage when I did it years ago. Seen one fresh calved HoJo make £2450Went to Carlisle today, a run of fresh month calved heifers from Kelso, half Hol half HoJo averaged £2100 by my count. Haven’t been for a while and know they are dear, but trade today smelled like BPS had hit the bank.
