Been high for a year really, but still creeping up. It’s knowing where the peak is

Went to Carlisle today, a run of fresh month calved heifers from Kelso, half Hol half HoJo averaged £2100 by my count. Haven’t been for a while and know they are dear, but trade today smelled like BPS had hit the bank.

I went to buy some bullers.
They were hellish dear £1000-1200 and not the best heifers buy a long way.
Came home empty handed

Same here, far too dear at that for what they were

prices are sky high, it's the why, milk prospects look quite good, covid and brexit, are still there, could throw a spanner in the works, but some of the prices older milkers are getting to, their best yrs are gone. We hadn't intended selling any fresh now, but tempting.

I sold a group for £875 back in September and was quite pleased with that.

Farm assurance inspection on Friday, with all the usual hassle, the cow trade makes selling the cows and retiring look like a good plan.
