Use plastic leg bands, one colour for front another colour for back then on the corresponding leg

We find blue and green not to be a good combination of colors to use as iodine makes them both appear to be the same color. If you fold back the tab you can see what color it is supposed to be but don’t get many people who will go to that effort. Also they aren’t the best with green bedding as it stick to them. Still better than the tape that needs replacing every week though.

Just to clarify. Red means back quarter blue means front quarter and you put on appropriate leg. Antibiotic cows are in a separate group when we have any.

Arla stipulate you use red is for dump cows. Even if they are in a separate group. With tape we put one green on the corresponding leg for front, two for a back quarter.
Problem is one one of the two leg tapes falls off

Blue for Back and red for fRont is easier to remember, would use whichever colour spray on the back of the udder on the affected side.

I milk somewhere they have a green blue orange and yellow bloody useless once there’s sh!t on them can’t tell orange from yellow or blue from green

we used to really watch out for summer mastitus in the hfrs, hard quarters full of shite. Haven't seen it in ours, for yrs, But still get hfrs come in 3/4.

we did, plenty of 3/4 cows milk as well as sound ones, and a lot cheaper, means must, didn't have much spare cash ! Having said cheaper, a lovely hfr went through exeter, few weeks ago, 3/4rd, £1,600. She would have been a £2,000 hfr. Milkers peaked at £2450, sedge, last saturday.

I think at one point 75 percent of our cows were 3/4 but all bought in, you'd have side after side with 8 out of the 10 being 3/4.
