All things Dairy

So.......
One of this years vet student who applied through here is a vegan.
Took a week to get it out of her as she didn't want us to judge, not a militant type just how it is. No biggy.

But......
Her views on climate change are that animal agriculture is all to blame and should be stopped straight away.
That poses the question, what's she doing becoming a vet?

Shes happy to feed her dog minced calves!

It is going to make for a frosty 2nd wk.
If I don't log on for a while I'm probably in jail for stomach tubing a calf.

She has said that she is delighted that we look after and care for our animals!

Interesting and not 100% comfortable
Two out of our 3 this year are vegetarian, although the 1st one was not vegetarian but a fussy eater and never cleared her plate. She ate the bacon when we left her to cook for herself.

Why did you dig off the top soil ?
we were asked the same question, when we dug out our base, for own stone, by the lads who ground it down, we did it, because we thought it was the right thing to do, and a ditch ! But, was told, most just lay the stone, on top of ground. Currently laying another, and have removed the topsoil again, makes a better track, and this one, will have tractor use, as well, so 12ins+ stone.

I love the fact you have to doth your cap to the company which you OWN !
I’d be a bit silly not to doff (spelling) my cap to the company I own (part off). Why wouldn’t I? The price is good and I am happy with what they are doing. I think the idea of only using red identification for antibiotic/dump cows is a sensible one that already naturally exists in the industry to some extent due to the natural warning associated with the colour.

Written by Lisa Applin

In July, we opened the applications window for farmers to join our Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot.

The Sustainable Farming Incentive is 1 of the 3 new environmental land management schemes. It sits alongside the future Local Nature Recovery and Landscape Recovery schemes.

Through the Sustainable Farming Incentive, farmers will be paid for environmentally sustainable actions – ones that are simple to do and do not require previous agri-environment scheme experience.

We are piloting the scheme to...
