could always go back to the narrow chested, spindly legged, unsalable holstiens ...........
getting more for a BB, doesn't make up for damaged cows, even slightly, can slow them up cycling.
Actually pulled a jersey this year, that was a shock. BB are out here, AA or HFD, customers waiting for them.
Is the problem cows are in better condition this year. Our dry cows need to loose a bit.

After a big run of bull calves, the girls are fighting back.
3 heifer calves

And nothing better than a bit of late evening Jenga 😔
62 bales pushed in from the front on top of the silage.

This is a funny cow, ugly in ever way, she is now 13 years old. My wife and I purchased her, as a runt in a group of youngstock when we first started out. She was kind of thrown into the group! Total nut case as a heifer, used to jump the front parlour gate, and any gates TB testing. Now many years later quiet as a lamb and by far the most profitable out the 36 we got in the group. Funny how life works out!

We had the same. White heifer I wrote on her health card "poor" when she calved first time. Did not serve her to Fr as she looked like she would be gone in 2. Had an udder like a dangling glove by the time she calved for the 3rd time. Same size udder in the same place when calved for the 13th time.
When she went on the lorry 3 cows had 42 years between them!
