Personally i think its good everyone is different. You seem to think unless someone does the same as you they’re wrong. A farm can be completely different ground to their neighbours & needs to be farmed accordingly. One size certainly doesn’t fit all.
Our cows won’t be going out this year & i’m actually glad. Grazing doesn’t suit how this farm is situated & i’m excited to see what we can achieve with the gates shut. But i’ve got nothing against grazing if thats what suits. What ever floats your boat.
I'm nearly the only idiot left in the village!!!!!

Village idiot or heavy millstone around our neck for the next 10 years, not sure which appeals more...ask me in 12 months.
Its actually frightening how many cows will be being milked by robots in such a small area.

Without trying to offend anyone but milking hundreds of cows giving a few squirts each doesn’t interest us one bit. With extremely limited grazing land we couldn’t do it anyway.
Our cows haven’t been let out at night for many years now so its no real difference fully housing them. Hopefully the system we’re moving to will actually be easier than our current one.
Coming up 20 years since I started milking, cows never went out at night and been housed 365 for the last 14 years,it certainly suits my farm, the last owner went bang and he inherited it.

Unless I’ve missed you must have some good photos of your project

had a look around a dutch farm, robots, in 365, zero grazing, quality silage, and the local contractor brought his mixer in, in winter, for the TMR, that was impressive, he had it sorted out, 150 cows, nearly partime job, son helped at weekends.

“Her indoors” was the official photographer so most of the photos are on her phone. I’ve not taken any lately, but currently got heifers & beef in there. Waiting on a date from Western Power until we can move the cows in.

How the delay with Western Power?
You must have been building for 18 months?
Must kill you, sticking beef in that shed with a robot parked up

£230k if electric is there would build it.
100k parlour Inc feeding
35k bulk tank
35k concrete
25k shed
10k wire up
10k on pumps and water
15k buggeration
Bit light on the shed price I would have thought, looks like its 180 x 100 ish with a lean too, probably going to be nearer 100k

Wesley, have you thought about using a generator? There is a guy not far from here bought a generator to run his dairy unit as he doesn't have a connection

Guessing won’t work with the bots or else they’d have to run it all the time. No problem for. Aparlour as it’s twice a day

Long story...started trying to sort out electric last May, turned out the person from WPD doing the work was signed off on permanent sick leave & hadn’t actually done anything towards it despite implying she had. To make matters worse no one took on her work, monitored her email or phone/answerphone. Then all the covid, very busy etc excuses came. The manager couldn’t organise a p’ up in a brewery. After months & months of chasing & countless calls we’ve not long had a quote & the paperwork to sign.
Had a change of builder after turning up 6 months late & not being happy with a few things so only really started building last April. Would’ve been September startup If we had electric. It plays on your mind a bit, its been a long struggle.
