Got a in calf heifer with light sensitivity , anyone got any cures/ treatment / old wives remedies for it
Ointment of some sort on the wounds but NOT sudocrem, far too harsh, plenty of access to water!! I can't emphasise that enough, they will lose heaps and heaps and heaps of fluid and water through the wounds. Vit b, metacam and some tlc and you'll get there eventually.
Unfortunately I have plenty of experience on the area we've had 6 calves at dad's go down with it this year. Buttercup can cause it believe it or not

No my culls haven’t been up to heifer price. heifers are £250 more than they were 5 years ago, but quite a few of the culls that have had 4/5 calves have made pretty close to what they cost.
Remember despite big cows and good grades they are classed as non farm assured as they have foreign tags.
Imports just as valuable up here at Darlington now, but used to be bit less
