we have 90 heifers and jerseys in 96 old wooden cow kennels with narrow passages 7ft , and 11ft
we have 84 cows in 96 cubicles in a very spacious steel frame shed with wide passages 11ft and 15 ft

worlds difference in how clean the heifers and jerseys are in comparison and i cant work it out
My heifers are far cleaner than the cows, all fairly similar building

Around 12 months ago I done a little experiment, adding two extra scrapings a day in the cubicle passage so 4.30am then midday then 4.30pm then 9.30pm,made the world of difference..10 days of that persuaded me to put auto scrapers in the cubicle passages only,go every 2 hours..you wouldn't know they'd been in the cubicles 99% of the time now
I can't understand how auto scrapers don't make the feet dirty, don't they push a wave of slurry?
Any affects on lameness?

Every two hours they go so to be honest there isn't a huge amount of slurry each push,if you watch any cows that are stood in passage when scraper is going they are very clever and will step over it,being hydraulic they aren't that fast so the cows do have a chance to get out the way,20 minutes to travel 160ft,not going to say about lameness as I don't want to jinx it but it has helped
