Yes, it was very reassuring to have a look, but I was an observer more than a selector. I've never bought cattle before, we've been closed for 40 years, I felt the Danish option fulfilled my criteria, matching in with my existing herd for size, production and hopefully health wise.
We've been a closed herd for 20years brought some Irish heifers in about 5years ago milk drop a 1000ltrs in three days took 2weeks for the cows to get back to where they were!still don't know what it was but it was defo they were carrying something

Do you know if they have been grazed before, we had a problem in our imports with gut and lung worms in 2016 as 1st lactation, probably no acquired immunity. Some of them grazed here for a few weeks late autumn 2015 (all arrived early Sept as late i/c heifers) but 2016 might have been their first full grazing season.

Never got one to 20 William, well done.

17 or 18 i think for me.
She is showing her age, had one a few years back that lived to 23, just got down one day and never got up again, it was when we had the very cold spring in 2013 and was snowing in March and think the personally think the snow and cold finished her off.
So this ones got another year or 2 to go to beat that. Hoping she'll thro me a Friesian heifer before then tho:rolleyes::)(y)

I've been looking to see what the progeny of our best cows are like and most of them are nowhere near as good as their mums.

Don't know what I think about the cow family chat from the pedigree boys!

You mean when I have posted a photo of a cow that calved with her heifer calf or an heifer that's calved? The heifers that I am calving at the moment are ones I've brought in as calves to try and boost/maintain numbers
