All things Dairy

Yeah a rotorainer. Had to have it please environment agency. 63mm main with 32 mm layflat coming off it. Blocked nozzles, have to keep moving it, layflat blows off. Rubber stators on pump don't last long and cost £300 per go!
Ah ours is great. Got a pto pump on ours and will pump 50 cube an hour. All yard water and effluent is put trough it. No solids make the tank tho.

I think I need to learn to keep my mouth shut sometimes ! Chatting with a friend last Tuesday at our discussion group, commenting that I haven't used the calving jack in a long while.
Nice little heifer heifer decided to change that this morning, starting to calve about 8.30 this morning, so left her for a few hours, went back, only to find a big pair of feet sticking out, anyway got him out with the jack eventually ! poor heifer had a bit of a hard time but was making a big fuss and licking the calf like it was a lollypop, so left her to it.
Could hear her calling from the yard an hour or so later, so went back to find him here (n)

Along with a pump, that I expected to be a small submersible thing, but is actually nearly a meter high and bloody heavy! Waiting to put the main in now.

I'll be interested to know how you get on. I have sprinklers, not k-line, and the while set up is a heap of sh!te

What size nozzles have you gone for? Have you put in settlement tanks?

went with the biggest nozzles that fit in the small pods, so 4mm Naans. Bigger pods were significantly more expensive. The rotorflush pump has a 0.3mm self cleaning filter so hopefully shouldn't be able to block. the plan is to brim the tank and take it out with a slurry tanker when theres too much solids in there, but I don't really know how long that will take. Plan was originally for a 3 stage settlement tank, but I was told it probably wasn't necessary for parlour washings.

Is the parlour finished yet? @Agrispeed

Nearly!

Currently milking with a bucket milker in it. Should be going by Friday, electrician has been struggling to get hold of some bits as its a slightly odd system as its running off another commercial building. Out of my hands at the moment anyway. Got the tank back the other day so its very nearly going.

Soil Association are being useless as usual but thats to be expected.
