Anyone heading to the friesian sale at leek tomorrow or the monty x herd sale at Shrewsbury ?

Might go to leek tomorrow if weather isn't fit of silage. They will make their money and have better fat and proteins than the last herd sale I went to

Be a toss up, but I bet extra cows added now at the extortionate cost of cows, will take longer to clear them selves, than cows bought 12 months ago.

Think the cull price has a bit of a bearing as does calf prices and of course the milk price.As a flying herd we buy a similar no each year, it usually averages out.we are just as daft as dairy commodities buyers.

Cull price is best I've seen it. 4 straight out of parlour cows - still had their collars on - AVG over 100ppkg last week. Got 20 more like that

Take the average tb comp for the month take away the cull price and divide by milk price.

I bet there isn't a lot of difference.

Same cow purchased at £2k @25ppl = £500.
Same cow purchased at £2k @30pp. = £1000.

i used it as an example of AVERAGE cow value.
Try loosing organic cows and you really have to put your hand in your pocket even deeper even on cull cows

Well try been under tb for 25 year's, losing over 1300 cattle, I can't even afford pockets

Your tb compo average of 1275? Bolloxs. It's 1275 for young cows this week, 60 days ago it was 1120.
