Workman is fairly sure part 2 of country on complete standstill will be announced tomorrow to clamp down harder before the weekend but only for humans

They can't do much more until they get the package in place for self employed people. I'd expect a bigger clamp down after the chancellor makes his announcement today.
At my work, everyone with underlying health issues has been sent home and anybody who can work from home, sales etc are doing that.
The large construction companies that we make a lot of stuff for are still working, so we get large fines if orders are not fulfilled.

Back on topic, I have been self isolating this week on the tractor and slurry tanker, trying to get some grass to grow.

working ground today, drilling tomorrow, cutting sat, ploughing kale ground sunday, baling Monday, working ground Tuesday etc, would have been nice to have been able to spread it about a bit !

During isolation, it's still not advised to drink drive.

Heading towards the end of our first calving season for 2020. Beautiful 3rd lactation Holstein that gave birth to a Wagyu cross. We AI the last 3 weeks of each AI season with Wagyu semen. We have a contract with a company that supplies the semen and buys the cross Wagyus back. Works like a charm.

Greetings from South Africa

All grown under irrigation or have you had some rain?

All grown under irrigation or have you had some rain?
We have an average rainfall of 1000mm a year. Unfortunately the last 4 years we got max 700mm and as low as 520mm. This year kicked off with a bang being the best Jan and Feb in years so the food is looking good. Lucerne mixes are dryland based and ryegrass mixes irrigation based. Got about 360ha under irrigation and 600ha drylands

Because of the very bad last 4 years our dams are empty. We can do about 10mm on irrigation after every grazing just to get fert melted and into the ground. Also only possible on about 75% of irrigation. Rest are standing dry and we bargain on rainfall.

having had a mini moan about dairy sales being off, just as we had our last of our planned number reduction, while not over concerned, bit worried over cow numbers and acreage, Kivells, who we have used to do our autumn to spring and number reducing, been on the phone today, pro-actively working out a system for farm to farm sales, which they already do, but with miminal human contact, they are going to produce a list each week.
Having done a tremendous amount with them, they are a really professional team to work with, the only 'problems' we have had, are either timewasters, or slow payers, neither of which, are really our problem ! If anyone wants cows in this plague time of uncertainty, give them a ring. Our dozen are on the list.
