Pd today.
13.5% empty overall
12% of our cows empty
6% of our heifers and
33% of a group of cows bought last December. For what ever reason they took along time to settle with us. Never had that problem before.
A much better result overall than last yr which is a huge relief.
as long as the R2 s pd ok next week along with the Tb test then we won’t have to buy any and maybe even do a bit of selective culling. All ifs any maybe s at the minute though.

So the bought in cows where bought dry, and calved with you 3 months later? Vets given a reason for large mt rate on them? Ibr/lepto/bvd vaccinated?

I had 8 in calf heifers, due march, xbreed types, I didn't go but had someone bid for me
Very pleased with them for £620
Bigger more holstein types were in the 700s apparently

They lost weight after arriving here they all calved within our nine and a half week block. . they entered our vaccination protocol on arrival.

Cows are 2.95kg for an R. So an o- is £2.50. Heifers under 36 months be 3.70kg for an R

I’ve been looking for cows recently and ended up importing some new calved from Germany,huge amounts advertised from the southwest,sadly Tb means I’m not interested.

The prices at Carlisle are crackers,nice if your selling though.

What you think of Germans? I bought some, so far pleased with them, big saving compared to local stock

I like them,very quiet bunch and well grown.
