13.5% empty overall
12% of our cows empty
6% of our heifers and
33% of a group of cows bought last December. For what ever reason they took along time to settle with us. Never had that problem before.
A much better result overall than last yr which is a huge relief.
as long as the R2 s pd ok next week along with the Tb test then we won’t have to buy any and maybe even do a bit of selective culling. All ifs any maybe s at the minute though.

So the bought in cows where bought dry, and calved with you 3 months later? Vets given a reason for large mt rate on them? Ibr/lepto/bvd vaccinated?

9 or 12 weeks?
 
I’ve been looking for cows recently and ended up importing some new calved from Germany,huge amounts advertised from the southwest,sadly Tb means I’m not interested.

The prices at Carlisle are crackers,nice if your selling though.
What you think of Germans? I bought some, so far pleased with them, big saving compared to local stock
