Clean concrete isn't ever slippery
our parlour floor isn't slippery, they mixed iron filings with the concrete, 1965, stood the test of time.
dried 20 off today, taking them up to the kale, fair walk, 1 got to the gate, turned round, and galloped full speed back to the buildings, i couldn't stop her ! Can't blame her, rained hard in the night, bit of a quagmire, those few dry days, dried it up a treat. It looks worse than it actually is, it is really dry ground, you see other cattle plodding round, in mud, in wetter fields than ours, no wonder the public complain, they do look 'uncared' for.

It’s really hard when the kids are at home from school. I need to go to marts soon, I need replacements, but due to COVID-19 no kids allowed. We have watched several auctions online with the boys shouting “ Bid Dad,she’s cheap.” but I can’t buy online. I need to see them close up. Won’t feel right heading off without the Cubs and sharing a 2 litre bottle of coke while eating sausage and chips on the way home.

Luckily for me I’ve plenty of stock but it would be extremely easy to buy on the Online app😬

Cow which aborted day after tb testing, had 3 last January do it after gamma test, cows about six weeks off calving , all handled quite, but always get one knocked over
I've had that happen once when the dry cows weren't stuffed full, always make sure the dry's are really full now and don't get a problem, we are very quiet and gentle with them but still had the problem that time.

Time to get thinking about grazing..

Are you still there or have you been built out ?
We moved in 1989, very lucky sell some of the land adjoining the town for development. Enabled us to buy a bigger spot which is where we are now. Son is coming to the same age as I was when we moved and we may look to upscale again in the future.
Would you have been local to crewe at any point in the past ?

Bidlea still going, they have recently started processing their own milk with a very substantial investment which seems to be going very well. Glebedale would be lomas at Congleton?
Sterndale, nadins at buxton, not sure if they are still actively in the job.

I know a guy sells a natural building product and he was called into a meeting about a building. The purpose was for him to give the carbon credentials of this particular bit of product. Afterwards he asked the architect if in his opinion the design of the building might be changed, and cost more, to satisfy the carbon budget. "Yes" was the answer. The time you mention is already here. Unfortunately, I think a lot of the calculations will be highly politically skewed.
And in the real world taken yesterday

He was the leading pedigree auctioneer in his day.
Just found this tribute to him ----

I was just reading on the Longhorn Cattle Society website about the very recent death of the auctioneer John Thornborrow.

I did not know Mr Thornborrow very well but fondly remember speaking to him at Stoneleigh every year (when the annual Rare Breeds Show and Sale was held there - a very big and presigious event then).

Mr Thornborrow ignited my love of Auctions. He was a superb auctioneer (the very best) who worked hard to sell every animal to its best possible price. He was such an exciting auctioneer to watch and brought some theatre and excitement to the auction ring. He was Society auctioneer for many of the pedigree breed societies and was auctioneer at some of the most prestigious dispersal and production sales in all breeds. I imagine many of the long term Dexter Breeders will have similar very good thoughts of him, especially any who sold stock at Stoneleigh - happy days and wonderful memories.
