Final major upgrade to the hoof trimming area showed up yesterday afternoon. Need to finish up some gating but played around with it for an hour yesterday. What a machine!

How do I seal up my maize heap?
Can I just tidy the face and leave it like a grass clamp or do I need to pull it down to a ramp, roll it and sheet it?
I've lost the Sheet twice this winter and there is quite a bit of waste on top so I'd rather not have to pull it down if I don't need to. Hopefully I won't need it until October now.
Work starts on a real clamp next week.

We would just pull the sheet down and tip few loads of farmyard manure against it and pile it up against it. Just scrape back when ready to feed again maybe a foot of waste but nothing more if sealed tight enough and dung put as high as it’ll reach

mowed the lawn, does that count ? We cut 28 march last year, and fed it by june, and to be honest, it was not good, grass overwintered isn't the best of it.

Whatever you pull down to a ramp will rot. If you can get any loose stuff away then pull plastic over and stack bales against the face. Have to keep the plastic tight against it as you can.

too cold to drill anything. Agrinet say 25growth last week. Apparently some fields did 200 some 0. Not totally sure I believe the 200
Soil is cold here, so we're going to turn it over and see if that will help warm it.

Can you tell how deep?
My stone up here looks great but is only in seams and sometimes just disappears.
Dug 6 test pits over 5 acres and found stone in all of them. From 2ft to 5ft deep

Went to the top of the hill, also a chap doing a lot of work for us up there has worked on the farm for 30 years, said that the plough dances around a bit up there.
