Do skid steers run on mud and bale plastic better than vintage tractors?Sell the classic, buy a modern skid steer.
liked the idea of a skid steer, but, apparently they get a lot of abuse, and need very regular replacing, whether true, or not, that's what they told me, when l enquired, and seeing some over the pond, on dairy units, they do look a bit 'heavily' worked, but they look great to drive.Do skid steers run on mud and bale plastic better than vintage tractors?
Ours has been with us 5 years and was pre loved before it arrived. Great bit of kit and built ready to take abuseliked the idea of a skid steer, but, apparently they get a lot of abuse, and need very regular replacing, whether true, or not, that's what they told me, when l enquired, and seeing some over the pond, on dairy units, they do look a bit 'heavily' worked, but they look great to drive.
@Jdunn55 your tractor might be worth more than you think. Fuel blockages like that a pia, got done here, with a milking glove, in the end, having removed most of glove, got peed off with it keep stopping, we had to remove fuel tank, and wash the thing out, surprising what crap came out, but sorted the job out, and they save breaking down, until the worst possible time, for you.
I dunno the 0.2hp that comes with my handscraper isn't yhe best for gear ratios, it also let's out an awful noise that sounds a lot like "f**king piece of sh!t" everytime it gets stuck on a bit of concrete or the handle nearly snapsI used to have a iH 454 on the yard on the straw chopper and occasionally on the scraper,is there a worse tractor for awful forward/reverse gear ratios?

I’ve yet to see a piece of equipment that can take the amount of neglect and abuse a skid steer can. Worked at a place that had a JD that had been rolled 8 times ( that were admitted to) and had 15000 hours on it. I would not be surprised if it’s still out there working. countless examples like that.Ours has been with us 5 years and was pre loved before it arrived. Not much fuel. Tyres yes. Just bought a set of narrow ones like the above as we've wide tyres on which seem pointless.Do skid steers eat tyres and drink lots of diesel?
Now we know that's not true, probably cleaner4 and half years old that pic so probably a bit different under there now
My milker has a skiddy, not that old, all lights smashed out and linkages all round looser than a tart’s drawers! I think they do need a bit of care and grease occasionally!I’ve yet to see a piece of equipment that can take the amount of neglect and abuse a skid steer can.
