I would be ringing them and tell them to send there van back to yours to pick all the stuff up and since it got delivered you are charging a storage charge of £20 a day until they pick it up, and also you are charging them for your administrative charge for sorting it out!! 🤬

We had similar with vets once. On farm doing TB test and sheepdog had just whelped. Vet and assistant noticed her and wanted to see the pups... Got a nice bill a week later for checking health of pups

If you didn't ask him to call then don't pay.

As an aside, are you really from a farming family as you seem awful keen to spend money?
I don't actually know how to respond to that?

My family has farmed the same land since 1913 I'm now the 5th generation, prior to that we farmed in St Ives for 200 years and prior to that we farmed in Ireland..

Regarding spending money, do you mean the products I bought from them? If so it was parlour chemicals and liners plus a few other bits and pieces all of which were necessites in my opinion...
If you mean my keeness to pay the bill, I wasn't that's why I asked on here? Just didn't want to phone up on Monday complain and upset someone to be told that's the norm, I hate conflict and upsetting people, there's only about 2 people on this planet I don't mind upsetting and that's only because they've been horrible to me

5th generation Cornish? Jethro was Cornish, and as was said at his funeral, the difference between Jethro and a coconut was that you could get a drink out of a coconut!

Seriously though, as I and others have noticed, you do seem to spend a lot of money for a farmer starting out.

What’s it got to do with you how much money he is spending? He is probably a bit naïve and people are taking advantage of that, so he asks on here to make sure and people give him the answer. Good for him giving a it a go I say and experience will sort a lot of his problems out.

I guess you only get what you put in 🤷
But I'm not really sure I have, I've invested a lot of money into cows, but I can take them with me and I'll have the genetics for a lifetime, I haven't bought any machinery except a scraper tractor, qnd the only infrastructure I've bought is some fencing, gates and an oopf which cost ÂŁ200

So going in a different direction it maybe beneficial to learn a bit more about yourself.

There are basically tlfour types of people. In my original introduction to this they were. The king the warrior the magician and the nurse. I prefer this analogy because the character describes them well.

Other people use different names for the group's. I'm an extreme warrior. From the forum I think it likely your a nurse with maybe a bit of magician.

Why does this matter. Well firstly it is important to realise that not all people are like you and so you actually need to deal with different people according to their character traits.

It's also important to realise your trait will make some things more difficult for you.
So this phonecall wouldn't be a problem for me because in the half hour before I would think about it and plan on towing the other person up in knots and win the battle.whereas for you, you might spend the half hour worrying about and when on the call concerned about upsetting people.

When you know more about yourself and others you can then approach things with a different mindset.

Don't really know how you can learn about this at home @lazy farmer may have an idea. He is also a nurse.

that's a good, but 'tech' way of putting it, l would say
desperately keen to succeed
passionate about dairy farming
and a little bit gullible
none of which are bad, the gullible bit will change with age and experience, we all went through that stage, and learnt the best way, in the pocket.

I remember when we lost Dad 6 years ago, trying to sort the vat out. Dad had done all the paperwork to that point so neither me or my wife had any clue on the vat or anything on the paperwork side. The wife phoned whilst I was milking, she wasn't sure about something, so I told her to phone the accountant for advice, that's what we paid him for. She was back on the phone with me in a couple of minutes in tears, he had laughed at her and made her feel little and stupid.
Anyway long story short, I changed the accountant, and it was like a breath of fresh air, she couldn't do enough to help, and easy to talk to if we had any queries.
I got a stinking letter off the old accountant asking me to make an appointment to collect my other paperwork which he still had. I was as nice as pie with him on the phone, and even nicer when I went to pick up the paper work. The look on his face was priceless, the man who had belittled me for years didn't know what was going on and had no idea how to react back. I could of gone in with guns blazing, and it would have probably badly.
I got even that day, without loosing my temper and it felt good.
As others have said phone them up, cancel the order and don't pay the bill. Plenty of companies out there wanting your business.

spot on @frederick.
I don’t really have any good Advice. Have I got better with age? maybe a little. My son has a very different personality type. When we have a heated “discussion” he will move on from it almost immediately where as I will feel terrible about it for days.
my only small suggestion is to have everything written down you want to say as for us types it’s easy to be domineered by the other person and not end up making your point in the manner you wished too. Also I would never shout as it something we are not good at !
one final thing is types are very loyal to our suppliers. But this doesnt mean we can’t get quotes from others just to ensure we aren’t taken advantage of.

Well you've certainly thrown me there, as to me both you and lazy come across as what I'd consider King's on here.

Lazy and I are as extreme opposites that you can possibly get in terms of character traits

However we both have a very similar vision of how an efficient business should run.

Our businesses are also completely opposite he is spring calving simple system with a fair chunk of cake.
I am autumn calving 250 9000 litre cows wagon 5 tractors one over 200hp slurry tankers. Fully automated parlour with lots of electric Gizmo's.

The only real similarity between the two of our businesses is we make a very similar profit per litre

You can only speak as you find, and both of you come across as gentry on here to me, but like you say it's a key board, by the same token, I'd class myself as the village idiot, and there aren't many who'd disagree without the keyboard.
Gentry would imply in my mind that we were handed it.
In that case your completely wrong, both of have created our own destiny and wealth but we were lucky enough to have family farming in the background.

First thing is...

They've made a mistake - we all do. Offer them the chance to put it right. You never know they might surprise you with how right they want to make it.

Second thing Is...

Log Off here at the end of reading this. It won't be fixed today so go outside enjoy what is a lovely January afternoon and deal with it tomorrow rather than working yourself up into a state over it now.
