20 days to the start of service
Cheers for the heads up,means I have to ring in 20 minutes earlier when the weekend man is on serving so he doesn’t sail on past my place

Had 4 cows and 4 heifers bulling at midday today, will they be alright if I leave them and serve in the morning rather than after milking tonight?
Pleasure. It’s only for 66 daysCheers for the heads up,means I have to ring in 20 minutes earlier when the weekend man is on serving so he doesn’t sail on past my place
Nice crop. What grass? And it begins View attachment 1031924
Congratulations!Decent heifer to bull ratio. Long gestation plus stature and certainly positive on maintenance View attachment 1031962
I would serve the heifers personally I find them easier when on standing heat.
Think you might want to reword that
We had concrete round ones years ago from a south Wales company, haven't really stood the test of time. Walls thinner than todays ones and most developed cracks over time.Couple of questions on drinkers...
Where do you put them... Edge of field? Middle of field? On track?
Someone pointed out to me that in NZ, round concrete drinking troughs are used, but here we only have rectangular. Anyone in UK got circular?
think the Hereford X will soon have its day once grazed beef units are back in fashion.
We have used Angus for a decade.anybody preempted a big push/demandfor grazing type dairy x calves and ditched BB for Hereford/Angus? If we have a clear test next week I am tempted to. Only reason for using BB is ensuring a saleable calf at 10 days old even if down with TB.

Putting in troughs at the moment, small fields share a trough(3-4 acres), which the cows can get around as it’s at a joining point , large fields, in field, but accessible depending on break fence.Couple of questions on drinkers...
