Seb calf (I think!) sebs so far have been really lovely and stylish, , GTW are strong buggers with loads of width to them, and then the contenders are very black calves, with a touch more grace than the gtw's but with just as much power - contenders are my favourites of the 3

So if you are "Pedigree " how can you ever register that calf?

first lot were taken after lunch, the second early morning, shows the difference some sun makes.
first sample, had 40 units N, 25 days ago, and slurry in early march, proteins and
nitrates high, and a lot of clover.
2nd, 40 units N as above, no slurry
3rd 40N and no slurry, but is a red clover ley.
samples taken after lunch
next taken early morning
both had 40 N, no slurry
bit different to what we would expect, sun obviously has an effect, But either the slurry has more N than we think, or N use is very slow. The nights are still cold, frost yesterday and again last night. Grass is at ideal stage to cut, so mow weds/thurs, decent cut there, which will only go stemmy and head, if we leave it. Shows r/clover must put some N into the ground, all three top samples were grazed by sheep, and all 'nice' grass.

The other big worry, ground is so dry, our 'barometer' stream, is dry. We sorted out some drains, and found one running a serious amount of water, mid jan, that's down to a dribble.
Lets just hope we don't get another dry summer.

How did you apply the slurry, splash plate and tanker?

Is there a method to stop parents driving through electric fence wires 🤬
Dad had a few seconds whilst the forager changed farms and he scraped up for me (very helpful and said thankyou) but has driven through an electric wire that goes across the yard AGAIN 🤣

Drives me feckin crazy, he's the only bugger that does it, any tips to help the elderly see it better before I kill him? 🤣

We have tape like you’d see on a horsey reel across the yard, seemed to sort the problem
