Hate the wet, dont jump, need a pair, they spit/kick, expect to come under regs before long, they need their claws and teeth attending to, a lot of p poor specimens about, too many being passed from pillar to post on sites like pre loved, it is about time they were more regulated.

I'd agree with the above. They respect fences well apparently. The teeth grow and need to be trimmed, as naturally they are warn down by eating close to the rocks.
 
In their homeland valuable fleece & I guess they eat them too, perhaps milk & beast of burden pack horse style. The garments in Inca tombs have better qualty fibres than any Alpacas alive today, so breeding needs to be improved.
There was a programme on TV last year (I think) about that. They cross easily with llamas which reduces the quality of the fibre,fibre from pure alpaca is very fine but still not as fine as the Inca were using.
