Am I missing something?

So COP has really annoyed me. Masses of virtual signaling, awards given to companies that aren't doing much. Lots of back patting. Adverts campaigns from ITV and Tesco to change the way we eat. Inane nonsense from leaders. Masses of coverage on food.

However in UK, stats saying 6% of of emissions come from livestock and 4% from veg and arable (our 10% total for that essential feeding people). Think I have those right from the AHDB figures.

18% come from homes and building (some from that essential air conditioning in the city).

Yet swapping to eating veg will save the planet (ultra processed veg at that) . They are all on crack. It's as simple as that. Misinformation and misdirection.

The whole thing has just depressed me. Good thing the general public have no intention on changing eating habits and with population increases, there is no way the livestock sector needs to shrink. Also went for a big drive through Wales to see all those evil climate killing sheep roaming amongst the green hillsides. The world has gone mad.

I'll get off my soapbox now (having a bad day as you will guess).

I’m just after getting my coffee break quite late and Mrs was watching ‘this morning’ miriam margolyes was on, that’s fine, she’s game for a laugh, then a segment started talking about winter weather turning bad and the things that can be done to make life better.

Everything was a hungry fuel munching monster.

Electric something or other for drying out trainers and shoes.

Electric something else that drys boots and socks.

A coat with a power pack in it to charge your phone.

A clothes rack that warms through your shirts.

All electric! Hugely demanding high draw stuff. Ridiculous!!

Phil did briefly wear a decent regatta coat, but apart from that I was fuming, especially coming off the back of ITV’s constant go green stuff.

I expressed my displeasure and disappointment in more floral language, I was then asked if I had anything else to do outside. So I’m writing this whilst being warmed by hot water coming from a tier zero 6 cylinder Diesel engine - How dare you!!!

It’s all about money.
Anyhow, they talk about co2 yet co2 levels on earth are lower/est than they have been for millions of years. Am I correct in thinking the governments of this world are actually trying to affect climate beyond its natural cycles?
Natural cycles are rather irrelevant, they occur over tens of thousands of years or more we can not do all that much about them, at least not yet. Human lives are far shorter, the weight of science shows our carbon emissions are having on impact on the climate in which our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will have to live.

No, but what humans are doing is trying to slow down the affects we are having on that cycle. But, we are not doing enough, and never will until we slow down the rapid increase in World population numbers.

We are like ants, we consume everything then move on.

All the major oil Companies (where our pensions are invested) were conspicuous by there absence. What about converting all the oil tankers to mega water bowsers and shipping water around the globe ?

Misinformation and misdirection.
That is all you get. When the internet first arrived I thought it fantastic for learning stuff, it was like having a full library in your living room where you could easily look up anything you could possibly want to know.
It has now become so full of shite perpetually spread by anyone that wants to believe any version of reality they like to choose that it has become nigh on impossible to determine fact from fiction and I am increasingly convinced that is the whole purpose of it all.
It used to be called smoke and mirrors, it is now known as social media.

For once, I don't think this is the internet. This is mainstream media. BBC, Sky, ITV combined with advertising from private companies who see an easy way to achieve a lower footprint (on paper) that costs them nothing and in fact probably increases profits selling ultra processed meals verses packed meat. They could acheive the same by educating the purchaser - but that would cost money. It would however work as we have seen with other food labelling.

its still fantastic for learning stuff (if you want to ) its not all about twaddle on social media or spurious news agencies.

Last week I was driving along (2 litre turbo diesel high hp pee poor fuel economy but fast  ) when I heard one of our local BBC presenters banging on about people dying in the winter due to cold houses. he's obviously one of those wet behind the ears 20 something presenters who thinks he knows everything but actuall knows f all. He even suggested that houses were warmer years ago due to heat from the chimney stack warming the upstairs and that people had fires in their bedrooms. Fortuanetely his somewhat older producer informed him that ice on the inside of bedroom windows used to be the norm. I'm fortunate to only ever remember a properly heated house, my sisters however spent their first decade or so with cold bedrooms. One said the other day she remembered day 1 of the central heating and dad pointing at the boiler and saying that stays on I've had enough of a freezing house and I'm never living in one again.
Mum and Dad both told me that upstairs fires were only ever lit if someone was ill and confined to bed, it was just too much work

So you buy into that ? 1% of the electorate are responsible for 10% of UK GHG emissions ? What rational Government wouldn't see that as an easy hit ? Anyone who believes the crap that the AHDB and NFU spew about ag being 10% of the problem needs to get out more, London would be a good start. If you buy into it, then what's your complaint ? Confused tbh.

The only way around all this I can see is super cheap electricity and electric heating

I think the whole of the "animals cause climate change" is all about the fact that people can remember or think about one thing and one answer. If the problem is climate change pressure the media to say it's animals and no one will go any further to think maybe is Shell or BP etc. Once everyone has decided it's cows, they won't go any further, so the fossil fuel industry gets off Scott free. Why by the way were there 500 fossil fuel lobbyists in Glasgow?

It is also a happy coincidence that blaming cows suits the multinational food conglomerates who make far more profit from ultra processed food (which people will eat if they give up traditional cooking), and then the gift that keeps on giving, peoples health will suffer, so big pharma also benefits!
