Amazon receipts and Vat

Its been so simple to just click on the laptop and order from Amazon. Now my accountant is asking for all the vat receipts. It's a nightmare and puts me off ordering anything else from them. How do others sort out Amazon for accounting purposes?

Very often there's no vat number though so not a legal vat invoice.
I'm buggered if I know where we stand with some of the sellers, an awful lot are direct to China.

I recently ordered 6 sets of draining rods from Amazon.
They arrived packed individually into six gigantic boxes, each of which would have easily contained all 6 sets :scratchhead:.
I did find the VAT invoices quite easily in the Your Account / Your Orders section as per @CollCrofter s photo above, but theyd put them all through as individual orders rather than one; each invoice was two pages long and I also printed an Order Summary to make things clearer for my accountant. More than a dozen pages when one would have sufficed :scratchhead:

If you do not receive a VAT invoice on imported goods, then there is no VAT, but you must declare this and I believe HMRC will then charge you the VAT even if you can then reclaim it.
There is currently a huge enquiry going on about imports from China aa it appears there are some massive frauds going on with goods being underdeclared in value.

I had an email the other day asking if I wanted a business amazon account? Maybe that would show vat ect better and be easier for accounting?

It's very similar to the ordinary account but if you buy from a 3rd party via Amazon you still need to contact them directly for a VAT invoice. Prices are displayed ex VAT and the business account seems to be aimed mainly at larger organisations. For example there are lots of options to control order processes (permissions, verifications etc) for multiple employees which are unlikely to be relevant to most farms.

Is that on a computer? You always seem to get a different display whether you are using a smart phone or laptop. Trouble is a smart phone is so much easier to order stuff on. Some would say too easy!

Yeah you have to do it from a computer. I was doing from an iPad and realised it was totally different and if I recall correctly the option for a VAT request wasn't to be found on the iPad App
