Amazone packer roller

Good evening folks,
Looking at a kg Amazone power Harrow, it has the rubber wheel packer roller which is new to us so not sure about it. We are used to maxi-packer roller and in wet conditions we get on well but the rubber wheels are they as good in sticky conditions? Also do they perish and need replacing every few years or will they last a long long time as we don’t really wear the maxi packers out on 300 acre drilling a year.
Any help appreciated as it’s new and of concern to us on a new machine and never had Amazone before. Is the metal same price as Kuhn or is it more expensive?
Many thanks

They look like a solid rubber block wheel with scrapers not like a flat tyre? Got like a triangle point shape to them? I’d heard the Kuhn ones Fit but no one close has an Amazone so never been able to ask.

When we run this outfit used to put two scrapers in between the tyres and the picture does not show very well but I put a steel rope across the width of the drill from one side to the other bit like they did on the Simba drills kept the tyres clean and stoped them clogging up and it worked in some dreadful conditions

You have a wedge ring packer by the sounds of it. I replaced mine with a steel packer this spring as I wasn’t happy with the wedge ring in sticky conditions last year. I had issues with stones getting stuck between the rubbers and bending the scraper arms aswell.

Got a wedge ring on mine and only issues I’ve had was last year with soil building up on coulter bar behind roller and acting as a brake but I should never had been working.the rpd with the tyres were very good when they first appeared.tyres would get punctured and fill with soil.i changed several tyres over the years we owned ours.with air tools, pre Milwaukee impact,I could remove drill from Harrow, remove roller and replace a tyre and be back at work in hour and half.not a bad job really

Very good packer but will smear in wet conditions which will hamper burying seed.

Our neighbour's ran them for years without issues. We've had a few demos but even the amazone man said the steel packer was better for bad conditions so we stuck with kuhn over the years

We have worn a rubber wedge ring roller out and expensive to replace. Never come near to wearing a packer out, still look like it’s only done a couple of seasons. If you are running a drill behind the rubber wedge roller consolidates it to much and the disc cant penetrate.

Didn’t end up buying it in the auction. 2014 Amazone ad super3000 with kg Harrow made 16500. Thought it was enough for a box drill with abit of age on it
