Whats minimum size tractor to handle such a rig? Looking to tread lightly for aut spraying, would have a bigger tractor available for spring work. Anyone know what lift capacity required?

I've got a 30 metre uf2002 with an ft1500 front tank on a Maxxum CVX130, handles it fine although I might try it on one of our bigger tractors one day to compare.

The only thing to watch it that if you only put say 1000 litres in it, you might have to tell it to pump a bit more to the front tank than the computer naturally would when filling it to keep enough weight on the front end. I have it set so that when its spraying it doesn't start to empty the front tank until the rear tank is down to about 250 litres.

Now thats a decent sized unit. Obviously lifts it ok front and rear.
Ive wondered how with the front tank they keep the chem concentration equal between front and back as its filled, do you have to do seperate fills for front and back?
How robust are the booms with so many fold points? They dont look mega in terms of steel etc

I've 1900 front, 2000l mounted rear on a jcb fastrac. 28m landquip. With hindsight a 1500l front might have been a better choice.

I would be careful with tyre choice. I'm moving wheel track width out to 80" and going from 320 to 380 rowcrops.

Power never really been a issue. The fastrac seems to be heavier on the front. I always put slightly less in the front than the back as it nods a fair bit if equally filled when your doing 80k on rowcrops can get a bit hairy.

It has two pipes running down the side of the tractor and constantly circulates the spray fluid, it uses a level sensor in each tank to maintain the correct levels. It needs you to keep pto revs up at around 500rpm especially if you are using agitation otherwise it can struggle to maintain spray pressure, I did mention to Amazone that it would be better to have a hydraulically driven spray pump so you could cut the engine revs back. My old 24 metre JD trailed would maintain pressure happily at not much over tickover.

Boom seems solid enough have only done a few hundred hectares so far.

80kph

My little Maxxum has always been pretty vague in the steering department, I don't tend to go much above 40kph when full.

The landquip has a hydraulically driven front pump. Its not automatic though and you can only transfer front to back.

You can do a seperate mix in front and back tank.

You can do separate front and rear mixes in the Amazone if you want to apparently, when you get to the field there is one 'auto' button you press to enable boom height control, tank level control, and section control. If you pressed this it would contaminate both tanks immediately by starting the flow and return loop, but you could disable this if you dug into the menus and there is a manual valve you can shut off on the front tank.

We only have a few old river beds with a sharp rise of about 3 metres! But the tractor gives 160hp with the PTO and hydraulics operating, it maintains 12kph easily. The FPT engine in it is very willing.
Have you got a standard top link? I'm considering upgrading mine or fitting a safety chain.
