The Crown Estate belongs to the reigning monarch 'in right of The Crown', that is, it is owned by the monarch for the duration of their reign, by virtue of their accession to the throne. But it is not the private property of the monarch - it cannot be sold by the monarch, nor do revenues from it belong to the monarch. Not hers personally though. The Crown Estate belongs to the nation, not Her Majesty. I think the Aussies might have something to say about the matter too.
Make no differenceNo subs over 500 ac

It's a sort of in between entity where the surplus goes to the treasury which in turn funds the Sovereign Grant (in essence the monarch).
TCE is not allowed to borrow, thus in 2015 when they wanted to get further into high street retail (!) they had to sell something, that's when the farms started to go.
No politician would dare touch it while Liz is alive but when Charlie is crowned all bets will be off, in the 2019 accounts it was valued at £15 billion, that'll fill a little of the Covid shaped hole in the budget.
I seem to remember the crown estate were evicting whole villages to sell them off about 2015 too.The Crown Estate belongs to the reigning monarch 'in right of The Crown', that is, it is owned by the monarch for the duration of their reign, by virtue of their accession to the throne. Not like you to hold backI was about to call "bullsh*t" but did a bit of Google searching. The Crown Estate has sold a lot of housing & there is lots of publicity about "evictions." What they don't say is that leases were just not renewed in many cases which is somewhat different. How many were actually terminated is not clear from the articles I read. They just get a higher value with vacant possession, though short term tenancies should not reduce the value by much - the buyer just wanted a cleaner start.
Non renewal of lease is initial contract has come to a end and one or the other parties has chosen not to renew??Not like you to hold back
Non renewal of a lease where the tenant wishes to remain is an eviction.
Pure and simple
The people i was in contact with had lived in the village for over twenty years and had no hope of affording to buy.
In this area The Crown Estate sold most as a job lot, vacant possession was not sought pre sale.I was about to call "bullsh*t" but did a bit of Google searching. Thats fancy words for evictionNon renewal of lease is initial contract has come to a end and one or the other parties has chosen not to renew??
Where did i mention farms? There were instances round here where the new owner's agents got overambitious and asked big money at renewal time. Most were settled, it also gave tenants an opportunity to buy their house or holding.
A long way off mass evictions.
