Amusingly ridiculous quotes on agriculture from the Guardian comments section

Occasionally I'll read some online article related to farming from a newspaper, and carry on scrolling down into the comments section.
This is where idiots like to vent their ignorant fury! It could be easy to become angry/depressed at the stupidity of some people, but sometimes they are just plain funny.

From a Guardian article about "Brexit will lead to more mega-farms", came this:
It takes us 18 months to grow a cow. In the States, thanks to hormones it takes about 4 to 8 weeks. That is what Megafarming is...
Other websites have their idiots too, but the Guardian does seem to attract a special kind!

Any other examples spotted?

The sad and depressing thing is that these people live among us... and they vote!

You have to be careful though. That comment may have been added in jest.

I recall long ago in the dot com crash, my moment of infamy, national humiliation and at the same time, mucho casho. I was part of an internet 'posse' for want of another word who were shorting the crap out of the dot com bust. We made a lot of money in a very short time from the likes of Psion and Colt Telecom. I won't go into how it worked and there was certainly nothing illegal as it was all discussed on public forums. Interactive Investor as I recall. Anyway, there was this one company, Birchin. A company seemingly made of thin air.

I can't be bothered to look it up or see if it's still going but it was on our list and results were due. Back then there was a lot of pump and dump going on and I managed to post something about 'results due tomorrow, fill your boots, this baby is going to fly' on some forum somewhere which included my real name. Of course, the results were awful and the price crashed massively the next day and we all made a lot of money. BUT, I was quoted in the Sunday Times Finance section with my real name and held up as a hapless victim of the dot com craze. Much hilarity followed.

So, just remember that people often post things with an ulterior motive or just for a laugh.

Go on then. What do You call a school teacher?

Thought we had already established that I call them school teachers. But then according to you I'm living outside my era

By the way I also object to the use of the term Chair instead of Chairman. My late father always insisted on being called Chairman of the School Governors. He worked on the premise that he was not an inanimate object or something to be sat on :LOL:
