I, for one, will welcome the elimination of hugging. That's for the Europeans and a totally foreign habit that only seems to have come to Britain in the last few decades. According to the professor, this new virus isn't spread by coughs and sneezes as much but by any bodily and non-bodily contact.
iThe first time I encountered hugging was when i attended a party held by some American friends. My host spotted me when I arrived and advanced towards me at speed. Thinking she wanted to get past, I stepped adroitly aside like a Spanish bull fighter and she sailed past, eyes partially closed and lips puckered. I've tried the manoeuvre since but it has been less effective. I hate being hugged, especially by people I hardly know. I have wondered if a civil suit for assault (which is what it is) would deter would-be huggers, but probably not. I think I'll put the word out that I have got a virus....
