An insidious appeal by animal activists to mount a film campaign against the dairy sector (re-post)

Tempting as though it may be. Its probably best left alone.

Deliberately cryptic im afraid but a friend of a friend, of a friend has a job where in part tracing website origins is part of their day to day work. Serious stuff mind, not trivial like this.
Anyhow, they could probably link it to a name and address in a matter of minutes. Then we could have a couple of hundred farmers turn up at their house, knock on the door and ask it they could have a look around and maybe have a go on their computer. Only fair isnt it:D.

This is not trivial tho, it's just as important as say a BT data leak or such? Why is this deemed not necessary or trivial?!

Compared to what I'm not trying to refer to it is. I'm afraid you will have to trust me on that one.

I think it's important to remember this vegan hobby is just that. It represents a tiny, tiny proportion of folk.
It may seem like they get representation, I think we pick up on it more as we have a great interest in animal health and welfare. So when we hear nonsense we react.

Focus your energy on the 99.99% of consumers that are interested and just be polite to the 0.01% that won't listen.

the web site is down
but map is still live
This from FB - Must be well funded if they need a whip round to find the cost of a web host

Anybody visiting our website in the past couple of days will have noticed how slow it has become. While we are thrilled that we are creating so many conversations around this topic, we would also love to have the website running full speed ahead again, and in order to do so we need to move our (currently free) server closer to the United Kingdom. We have found a company that meets our requirements, at a cost of £90 a year. If you love what we do, please consider donating the price of a coffee to our fund so we can get our website back to its former speediness!

NFU are on the case now. Email from them stating that the matter is with their legal team and that they have been in contact with the police for guidance re incitement to harass or conduct unlawful behaviour
They state that the info from FSA is not a data breach as the info is in the public domain
They also go through the method of delisting your business from google maps.

I don't know the law re uninvited people entering your farms but this may be useful if you get malicious communications;
Communications Act 2005 - Section 127 of the act makes it an offence to send a message that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character over a public electronic communications network. The section replaced section 43 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 and is drafted as widely as its predecessor.
A 'public electronic communications network' is defined in section 151 of the Communications Act 2003 as: “an electronic communications network provided wholly or mainly for the purpose of making electronic communications services available to members of the public” - Put simply, electronic communications mean any information sent between particular parties over a phone line or internet connection. This includes phone calls, faxes, text messages, video messages, emails and internet messaging. It does not include generally available information such as the content of web pages or broadcast programming.

Times have picked up on this.

Article states that the people behind the website are linked to hunt sabs and other animal rights groups (no sh!t Sherlock. Top journalism)

However it does name James Turner, 45, of Bristol who is one of five behind the site. Turner said that he supported trespass as long as you were “not bothering anyone”.

For anyone interested there is a Facebook page been set up "stop project calf" encouraging everyone to post and share positive pictures of their work....I also seen a link to a petition to have trespassing laws tightened. I will need to find it again and can link it if anyone is interested.....

I never hold up much faith in the NFU....they seem to miss many opportunities to stand up for the industry imo and I was really really put off them when one of their employees was mocking/being completely unsupportive to a farmer online (on social media for all to see I might add) after said farmer suffered a terrible injustice!
