Crazy. When Labour have lost the towns of the north and their ‘wall of red’ who do they elect as a leader? Another southern, oxford educated luvie, yet more urbanite arrogance.

Lisa Nandy was the only one who had a chance of wining back the north and that is the only way labour could even stand a chance of contending for power.

Starmer is the best choice for them by a mile. Its the likes of Richard Burgon and Lavery who are their problem.Complete idiots! Lavery makes me ashamed to be a geordie.

There may be a sh*tstorm. K-S is a sound candidate but I think it was supposed to be a woman as leader or at least deputy...... I think they'll be well miffed

Edit: - it'll be interesting to see their shadow cabinet and whether they pull in one direction with the Gov over the crisis or just carp on about tests, ppe and deaths and what 'they' would have done

2nd Edit:- Angela Rayner now deputy

North Somerset.
What is the point of the Labour party these days?
Post war they had the purpose of reconstruction and the establishment of the NHS and did it well.
What difference can a Labour offer in 2020?. The far left momentum agenda has been rejected by the electorate but S S will have his hands full in the same way as Kinnock had to rescue Labour from their previous incarnation.

Eh? I thought his dad a toolmaker, and mum a nurse. State educated - Starmer passed 11+ to go to a Grammar School. Don't think Comprehensives had come in in the area where he grew up.
Feet on the ground man.

Unlike the white bearded one preceding him, he doesn't come fake hippy, champagne socialism, either.

(And no, I don't vote Labour.)

That's what he would like you to think but I'll think you'll find his dad owned an engineering factory.

can't remember his no 2, though female, they were both in the shadow cabinet for a while, under Corbyn, so his either a very good avoider of answering questions, ( if he didn't agree with Corbyn, he would have been replaced ), or very good at looking safe, neither a bad thing in politicians, it's their policies that matter.
