The EU elections will be over, the result irrelevant, Brexit is no closer now than yesterday nor will it be on June 8th under a new leader who has no more ability to get it over the line than May, if you want a no deal hard Brexit then the EU is your best chance of delivering it by throwing us out. Let a summer of more chaos begin, where we do more damage, alienate more people, close more business, watch more political back stabbing for personal gain.

By what mechanism can the EU throw any country out? As far as I am aware there isn't one, so it can't be done.

Well if the opinion polls were correct and the brexit party and UKIP get more than 50 % of the euro vote then IMVHO that shows that more want to leave than before. I don't know one person who says they would now vote to remain but do know quite a few who would not change from remain to leave. I know that doesn't represent the whole country but we will have a good idea on Sunday/ monday

Not seen the polls, is there any suggestion of how many pro brexit MEPs might emerge from the count? It will be awkward for Brusels having a contingent of malcontents hanging around the place stirring the poo, which can only help France and her desire to see Britain out.

Listening to ken clarke today you really get to understand that mp's still do not get what the country wants, they are so far removed from the truth and the common man its scary. Bash farage all you want but the british public voted leave and the british public will have voted the brexit party mp's in as MEP's in huge numbers. Farage will be pm if the conservatives f##k up electing there next leader. Boris can win a general election if he gets the job because large swathes of the british public like him, just like farage.

I have a lot of time for Ken Clarke but on this point his basic message is that the electorate are too thick to comprehend the matter and it needs to be left to intelligent folks like him.

That was fine up until the referendum was run - now he has an instruction from his boss which he does not like.

As far as I am concerned he can suck it up

Sadly you are deluded.

Jeremy Corbyn, John Mc Donell or heavon help us Chris Williamson will be pm. Unless somone puts Farage back in his box.

The new leader sits on their hands and does nothing, they do not ask for an extension past 31st oct.does not offer a new deal because there isn't one.lets time run out .we leave

The PM who lets No Deal happen will get crucified at the next GE.

It's very easy to see who will lose out, but very difficult to see who will benefit.

Farage is nothing more than a greasy charlatan, soaking up the protest votes like a sponge. The European Parliament will take great pleasure in showing his MEPs the door once Brexit is complete.

Until they have a Westminster presence, his party are just a very temporary fad.
