I imagine most people who think before spending do the same, but I still cannot understand why you want to be paid in €. As I posted, you are going to have to convert that to £. What the vendor can buy is matterless. I can buy a lot more with any quantity of € here than you can with the same quantity of € in the UK - after you have converted to £ of course.

There is no problem in telling a customer how much the cost is in € at a certain exchange rate, but given the fluctuations in XE it is sensible to request the IBAN transfer be made to you in the £ you want to receive.
Try coming at it again from a different angle, I never said I want to be paid in € :scratchhead:

if the pound falls our exports will be cheaper to those buying in euros so they are more likely to buy from us
with the same things we import will more expensive
Is this what you mean @Blod
The buyer will look at what it costs them, not what we will get. So yes, the falling pound helps export, to an extent. And then there are "tariffs".

Take wheat, the tariff could be as high as €93/t . Lamb €1,000/t. The tariff comes from our wallet, not theirs. Is this something to consider? Can we compete with Canada, Ukraine, Argentina?

Britain is woefully short of trade negotiators. I've heard it repeatedly over the last 10 days and I believe it. We have 30 to EUs 300. Personally I think we need to be giving ours a really clear message. What message? It needs discussion. Getting out there and meeting up with others helps to crystallise thought and understanding and that has to be a good thing does it not?

yes that's what I said and we will do the same

Are there ? something we don't know yet and that would work the other way round if that's the way they want to play it and their loss will be the greater

I agree

Does anyone think we will get more euros for our produce during the next 5 years? :scratchhead:

:ROFLMAO:
Euros because if you look at £ the exchange rate clouds the issue. And they won't be paying in £

3. Euros because when you sell into a country it helps to look at what they are paying not what you are getting.

Try coming at it again from a different angle, I never said I want to be paid in € :scratchhead:

Please be patient and patronise me by explaining what you are saying. I cannot come at it from a different angle if I do not know what you are trying to tell us. All you do is continually refer to €.

In the quotes above you ask whether we think we might be paid more €; you say € because the XE of £ clouds the issue and we (you) will not be paid in £.

Third quote € again because you need to look at what they are paying. You have already said they will not be paying in £, thus suggesting they will be paying in €, or do you have a third currency in mind?

Fourth quote, I agree you did not say you want to be paid in €, but your constant reference to € suggests that this is what you would be basing your prices upon. If you are dealing with a non-Eurozone country would you still be thinking €, or the local currency.

What do you want to be paid in? If they are not paying in £ then you will have to take the risk of XE fluctuations when you transfer the foreign currency to your bank in the UK. Of course if you have a € account you will be converting the foreign currency into €, but still with the risk of XE rate between that foreign currency and the € clouding the issue.

Perhaps I am being particularly thick on what you are posting, but I regret I cannot work out what it is you are trying to tell us. I think we have already agreed that any sensible buyer looks at the opportunity cost of not buying something else instead, so you need not explain that issue.

I would still like to know too, who you would allow to vote.

I am starting to get the feeling that Brexit is turning into another tin can like Greece to be endlessly kicked down the road.
I thought there was a date when they would kick use out might be wrong. I think the stalling is two fold. First we have no idea what we want secondly and maybe more importantly the ballot box could really change the thinking and landscape in Europe over the next year.

At last a sensible proposal for post Brexit Britain and post Brexit EU!
The Germans have just sorted out the solution for TM. She will probably rubber stamp this model and promptly fire Davis, Fox and Boris as complexly surplus to requirements going forward.

Who's surprised that the Germans are the ones to sort things out. I would happily vote for that the whole job could be done and dusted in 6 months (y)
