Does red tractor have power to do unannounced checks ?

not even the police can do that without warrant ! Who do these people think they are ?

i thought it was once mooted but thought it wasn't brought in :scratchhead: ...i saw the story and thought it a 'put up job'....ie blenky supposedly rolling his eyes at a spot check as if every member should be prepared to suffer it:scratchhead:

otherwise i don't believe in reporting ppl meself.....though if you feel you've no other option you should look em in the eye and tell em you going to do it first

thats exactly what it is, thinly veiled planned PR to try prove that he’s not really damaging soils and demonstrate credibility / integrity of the scheme with its random check police powers !

what are the odds of him being randomly checked hey ?

I suspect I’m next ! But no one turning up here at random will get a moment of my attention and would be asked to leave and make an appointment to suit my convenience

I can see the opportunity for vexatious harassment by people with an axe to grind, but sadly the authorities seem to encourage this Orwellian behaviour because it's cheaper than inspecting a bigger % of members and called "risk based inspections." There's a correlation between one rule being breached and a few more - see how many government bodies turn up to a cross compliance inspection these days (n)

Indeed. Animal rights activists, people moving to villages and getting hacked off with mud on the road etc etc. To say nothing of the neighbouring farmers who you upset by renting a bit of land they also wanted 🙄
To save a bit of time can everybody on here report themselves and crash the system? 🤔
Gosh the thought police will be after me now

@AM_Arable is it not time you relabelled this column “Assurance Focus” rather than “Farmer Focus” ?

Your contributer has abused his use of his column 3? times in a row to promote the none farming private business he is employed by

There are rule about making advertorial clear in media which im sure you are aware of ?

or maybe get rid of him and recruit an actual farmer to write in your “Farmer” focus section ? ………. now there is an idea that may endear you to your readers a bit !

I don't mind the diversity in the Focus columns. It's designed to stimulate debate and it certainly has! Reading about crop husbandry programmes is dull - the rest of the arable section of FW is full of this. Isn't the Focus section about what issues face the people writing in them? If it were all about RT then that's just too much, but the odd bit doesn't bother me.

in this particular case it’s become advertorial for a private business hated by farmers - rather misguided business for FW !

i would rather read content from actual farmers not gravy train passengers

Being Estates Manager for a huge business like that is pretty remote from the real job, he has a farm manager who is much closer to being an actual farmer, but I think most farmers relate far more to ‘true farmers’ who are managing their own risk in their own business.
Blenky has no risk of his own and must be almost 100% office based.
