@AM_Arable is it not time you relabelled this column “Assurance Focus” rather than “Farmer Focus” ?

Your contributer has abused his use of his column 3? times in a row to promote the none farming private business he is employed by

There are rule about making advertorial clear in media which im sure you are aware of ?

or maybe get rid of him and recruit an actual farmer to write in your “Farmer” focus section ? ………. now there is an idea that may endear you to your readers a bit !

The Farmer Focus section is a place where all columnists are free to air their views as they see fit providing they stay on the topic of farming and don't bring FW into disrepute (such as by violating libel law). I know as a careful reader of FW that you're aware we cover both sides of the debate on Red Tractor in print, online and on the podcast. You have even been kind enough to contribute to the debate yourself.

No Farmer Focus writer lasts forever and we are always on the lookout for those who readers will value for their insights and perspectives, whether they find them agreeable or challenging. I have an unshakeable belief that farmers do not want to put down a freshly read copy of FW feeling like they have agreed with every word - how dull! Our industry is sparky, confrontational, diverse, opinionated and working their way through some huge issues at the moment. What fun to be the home of this debate!

Surely in your for and against debate you could have found two farmers that aren’t employees of Red Tractor to stand up for it?

so in the interest of BBC style balance can I write 3 columns in 3 editions of FW pointing out the failings of Red Tractor and calling out those with seats on the gravy train and throwing insults at them all ?

i’m not sure it would be the kind of thing anyone would want to see in a Farmer Focus however … surely that should be about actual farming ?

Not being rude or anything but how many actual farmers take the FW anymore? I dont know anyone who does, I stopped a long time ago. More info on here and quite a few topics covered here seem to get rehashed and appear in FW a month or so later. I guess there's more pretty pictures in the FW but the POA on kit in the back should be banned.

"Small holders, aga owners, salmon pink cord reception areas Weekly" doesn't have the same ring to it.

I do!

Never hurts to have a different perspective on things sometimes.

Clive, you should DEFINITELY sign up as a focus writer. Dedicate every column to criticising the NFU, AIC and RT, promoting TFF and your affiliated businesses, with a small sentence about DD or CTF to keep it on topic.

I wonder if FW would keep you on for nearly a decade being "sparky, confrontational, diverse and opinionated"?
