How strong are vibroflex tines compared to 25mm square pig tail tines?

I get on fairly well with their 3/4" knife openers on pigtails, even drilling beans down to 5", but it does fatigue the tines.

They aren’t very strong at all but I find those 25mm square pigtails snap like carrots in springs like this as well so as we have no stones I like strong solid tines

no idea but going to try it behind shakerator
or ld subsoiler on a bridge link
@sjt01 you have vibrio legs on your contraption
We are adding a couple more legs to make it fit our new sprayer, and have chosen Simba Pro-active type top springs from Spaldings (11375) as we cannot source the original KV parts. The Simba have 3 bolt holes for attaching the Sabre leg, whereas the Kongskilde has a funny shaped hole which is designed for the tine to pass through.

Some of those results look shocking to me .would have been worse if not been over at 90 degrees with straw rake.bet some of the manufacturers are not too happy with the results.lots of slotting too making a highway fir slugs aswell.

I can assure you the majority of no till enthusiasts fields would not look like that.

I only had brief look at the video but seen a bit of chatter about open slots. A lot of yanks would value the firming wheel in the 750 over the slot closing wheels because they know they get dry weather and the seed gets firmed into the soil quite well. I value firming wheels a lot.

Another thing that matters is downpressure on the closing wheels etc. Ramming a slot closed sometimes means it opens up again as it dries which is equally as negative. I tend to drill and a day after roll in the spring (don't have roller paddles but it can help)..

Spring drilling on heavy soils can be challenging for sure. I would never drill in the wet either. The very first thing I observe was that the timing of the drilling wasn't great, but equally I've made no end of mistakes over the years too

Yeh the only problem i can foresee a yield drop is if like you say a late drilled spring crop that doesn’t have time to tiller.
i follow a guy on twitter who farms in Kenya and gets 10t/ha of planet on 25cm!
Just think how much the yield would be on 12.5cm rows!

Is that a trial yield or on farm??

I’m not sure I’ve just seen it on his page a few time. Perhaps with extremely long days and regular precipitation 25cm is better over there in terms of light interception and less surface for disease to proliferate.

In Kenya we are looking at 12 hour days with little variation whilst we've high sunlight intensity day length limits yield. Some higher areas are cooler but not necessarily wetter but cereals are unlikely to grow much longer than 120 days which will limit yields. We've got irrigation but I still think with the varieties we have here 3 tonnes about as high as we can go. We built our own drill and made a mess drilling the first couple of fields burying stuff too deep so that rather than six inch rows we got 12 it's amazing how well they've grown but I still think they will struggle to give us the right yield.
