You can't play at his level without being totally dedicated and devoting your life to the sport - when you can no longer do it, of course it is going to be painful. If he was more laid back, he wouldn't have succeded.

Admire him for what he's achieved,(y) but all this front page news is certainly ott, at best he was the 4th best player of his era!
And as for some saying he's Britain's best ever sportsman! Get real!!
Expect him to be knighted any minute:rolleyes:.
Enjoy your retirement(y).

I don't think he asked for all the front page ott reporting.
Yes he probably was the 4th best but the other 3 would have been the greatest players of any generation so don't think that's really a fair comment.

Andy Murray may not have been the most naturally talented player of the big 4 of this era but I don't think any worked harder than him to get the success he has had and having spoken to a couple of people who have met him by all accounts a very nice chap as well with a tremendous sense of humour which doesn't come across in many of the TV interviews. I would love to see him have one last crack at Wimbledon and to win it on near enough one leg but I don't think that will happen !

There'd be a lot of tearful farmers if suddenly one day someone said oh no you're 65 now, your not fit to Farm anymore. We're taking all your cows and land off you. Here's a nice little council house to retire into.
What are you on about Dave, !!!

Yes he won’t play professionally, but hardly talking his livelihood away, and as for the Council house, dare say he lives in a dream mansion.

Professional sports persons live in a perfect life, that most of us could only dream off.

I'm on about he's devoted his entire life to try and become the very best he can be and now due to circumstances outside his control he's had to pack up. Think he's entitled to be a bit emotional.
Just like a farmer would be if he had to pack up and didn't want to. Or anyone for that matter.

I often think of how these top end sports people will age, driving their bodies to such extremes of fitness and body stress that we were never really designed to cope with. But I also see in our world folks with the 'old farmers hobble' brought on after years off graft and tractor driving.

I hope you're more supportive to your kids if they need a cry. Or do you just tell them to man up and be more like Sam warburton?

Written by John Swire

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) provides more business value to SMEs than any other higher education institution in the UK.

This is according to a new study by Universities UK that found – over a four-year period – that SRUC generated more than £57.5 million of income through its consultancy and Veterinary Services.

SRUC was ranked above the University of Liverpool (£54m) and the Royal Veterinary College (£31.5m), with the University of Edinburgh (£16.5m) and the University of St Andrews (£12.5m) the only two other Scottish entries in the top ten.

In terms of the UK, Scotland finished above the North West (£83.5m) and London (£76.1m), with SRUC responsible for...
