Angina

Looks like it’s possible. An ECG tomorrow after more bloods today to confirm to go along with a gall stone (& kidney cysts which are common apparently) found by the CT scan and confirmed by ultrasound

Question: any of you diagnosed with angina? Easy to sort?

I see weight loss is recommended which will be a bugger as I do like chocolate and bread and cake and biscuits and have a limited concept of “moderation” once the lid is off or the packet opened.

It's a pretty broad Church- the thinking/management will be governed by the underlying cause of the angina. Certainly some people live with it for years with not much in the way of routine medication being required. Others have small procedures to sort the underlying cause. As you can imagine anything cardiac of this sort will have a list of possible treatments as long as your arm and they are not altogether uncommon in 'people of a certain vintage or beyond'.

Weight loss as we age is not a bad idea for all of us. Try the 5 and 2 diet. To be fair cutting out sugar as far as you can (that's your chocolate, biscuits and the like) out and switching them for something else would not be a bad move.

I don't know how much 'physical activity' you do Rickster, probably a lot more than the average member of the population but if not then brisk walking for 10 minutes first thing in the morning might not be a bad shout but ask your consultant first. If they were that concerned you would not be allowed out of the cardiac ward.

Not in a ward. Home and happy and about to go to Rhyl to see Henning Wehn .. so will probably catch coronavirus instead.
Been given trinitrate glycerine or something to spray under tongue if chest starts to tighten and the ECG is at our local GP surgery. Might be something completely different in any case

Ah yes the old under the tongue stuff, that works.

ECG is fairly routine, I know how they work but only know what 4 different 'wrong-un's' look like on the trace. Might be done by a GP who has a special interest in cardiac stuff.

So it appears that I have a bit of a tricky ticker as it’s suffering from arrhythmia... irregular beating.
Good news is that the chambers appear to be functioning okay and the best news is that sex is not banned

I had acute angina some 20 odd years back . Some days I just couldn't get going at all , and feeling like a golf ball stuck in my throat . Had a few tests done - they put a camera up to my heart through a vein in my groin . Finished up in Manchester Royal infirmary , where I had a multiple heart by pass . Best job I ever did , no repercussions , no after effects , and only a slight trouble in the leg that they got the veins from . 20 odd years back now , and never even a twinge of any kind since - and I was going through Glyceryl tri - nitrate , almost as fast as I could get the pump sprays , I needed to carry one around at all times to be safe . Funny really , in that the surgeon said the op would be good for "15 years of quality life " I must be on borrowed time :) :)
