Id nevernsold anguses or anything else to abp for that matter. Was really easy. Phoned the guy who runs the collection centre nearby and asked if he could find a place for them on the friday he said i could either take them there or drop them at ellesmere. Took them to ellesmere myself wesnesday morning as it worked out better with other stuff turned up at the gate at agreed time dropped them off and cheque arrived friday. Cant get much easier than that! Was very impressed with price too having never sent anguses before. Sent 3 limos next week pleased with them too. Usually sell live but had £1-200 more dead!(y)(y)

If you hit all the bonus specs then £4.20 was about right when we sent some a month ago.

But for that you're looking at younger than 24mths and 280-330kg carcass.
Can't remember what grades are expected but we've never fallen foul of that so must be a fairly wide margin there.

What grade are you saying you got £4.20 for??

As they now only pay a max of 40pk so the base price you got paid would have been £3.80!

You don't get the Angus bonus for 4/6 weeks later at ABP.

Are you talking about selling fat at that LW, or is the 280-330kg DW? I put AAX to the store sale usually about 350-380kg LW at about 10-12 mth. If I have interpreted what you've said correctly, it would be better for me to go straight to the abattoir. Sorry if this is an ignorant question, I don't know anything about selling DW. Thanks.

He is talking deadweight.

Roughly a 600 kilo animal will kill out at 50/55% of their liveweight, for example a 600 kilo animal liveweight will kill out at 300 dead at 50%.

Cattle under 12 months old that are killed can only be sold as veal.

Yeh 380p base +max bonus of 40p.
&405p flat rate for 28-30m named angus, different outlet.
That was over a month ago.

I think that 0+ is acceptable, not sure on what the lowest grade they pay bonus on
R is obviously in spec.
Hereford scheme, 0 is defo fine.

Yes the bonus is to a max of 40p now rather than 70p, but the base is better, so it tends to work out just as good a scheme, but the criteria to get that 40p is a bit tighter this year.

Still hell of a good scheme .

360 is the top weight limit for Angus.

I thought it was 380kg to be honest, but I'd have to check the paper work, we're still on 2016 contract papers here so I might be out of date.

Yeah spot on, averaged 52% KO, one heifer at 48% dragged it down.

That's how it normally works........ last bunch we got the bonus first with in about a week! Not sure what was going on there!
