like a lot of people, im out mowing grass for hay ? the rain we got certainly made a hell of difference when the fertilizer had just sat there for weeks in march-april ? my land , so i know the obvious places to look out for, going first round one headland that has house gardens backing on normally yields some interesting rubbish and this time ddnt disapoint a stainless steel bowl and football amonst other things ? Now to animals, a few foxes around, plenty of seagulls and crows watching what gets flushed out, near the end of mowing this large field a hen pheasant quite away in from the edge was spotted, sad to see one of her chicks , she tried to defend get picked off by a seagull, i got out the tractor and watched her whisle to find anymore ?

Red and roe deer calves.
Always keep and eye out for them.
It's strange that even with herds of 30 and more around I've never found an antler in the silage or hay.
Have found them other times but never in forage.

Had 3 buzzards and a kite the other night.
Also saw an oyster catcher in a bit I wrapped last night

Hares. Sad to say I've caught one or two. They are buggers for hunkering down instead of bolting and impossible to see in the long grass. That said, I have managed to rescue a few, along with Roe deer fawns.
Kites always seem to appear on freshly mown fields, I presume its either for worms or the remains of critters caught in the mower - can anyone confirm?

As @toquark says almost impossible to see them until it’s too late.
First you know is usually gulls or buzzards on a previously mown bout
Managed to save one fawn the other night. Spotted him and give him a nudge or two with my boot but even at that he was for hunkering down. Eventually when I handled him gave out a loud squeak and ran off until he met the nearest stock net fence.
Hopefully his mother found him later on.
