ANIMAX 3 in 1 sheep bolus

Do the 3-in-1 boluses go through the old Animax bolus gun?

I used to bolus my Hogg's with cobalt and selenium but was put off doing the ewes - using 2 different boluses was just a faff. Didn't like the size of the Agrimin boluses either.

We used agrimin lamb boluses this year for ewes lambs done at beginning of October Rams went with them on the 17th of November and come away from them on 9th of December. Out of 340 only 20 not in lamb one lot scanned 141% the other 137%. They are looking great. We would normally have anything from 40 to 80 empty so well chuffed with result.
How do you find scanning so early? Very accurate?

Hi GTB did your trace element people claim they can do anything about selenium. The people l use say you can't test for selenium in the soil, nor is there any product that can raise selenium levels.

A few around here have applied it to the land, they say it is beneficial in the short term, but find it doesnt last.
Same with the better grass fert, think being in a high rainfall area doesnt help.
Bolusing seems to be the most cost effective answer.

Hi everyone after reading this thread I'm left feeling a little concerned, I've just bought 100 agrimin 24-7 smarttrace plus that remind me a bit like a shotgun cartridge, should I be concerned using them or just get on with the job ,opinions appreciated thanks

I was advised to treat one third of the land every year in rotation. The plan is to retest the soil after three years. Hopefully will need lower application rates next time around.

I had a forage sample taken, the cobalt level was very high, but lambs suffer very badly with pine,we bolus the ewes pre tupping and pre lambing and do the lambs every 5 weeks.
Iron aluminium moly and lead are sky high.

Nothing wrong with them at all. Take it steady and they'll be fine. I've used about 1000 a year for the last two years and I've never lost any sheep to a bolusing injury.

I have just got some of the Animax ones today though, as they have similar TE levels in a smaller bolus, so can only be easier to give.
